Medical debt is a critical issue. A recent report shows that medical debt impacts 1 in 9 adults in Los Angeles County.
Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) received a grant from Supervisor Hilda Solis to provide medical debt relief to eligible residents of LA County’s Supervisorial District 1. Through this project, NLSLA will help eligible consumers pay off their medical bills. Payments will be made directly to the provider(s). Both medical and dental bills will be considered.
To be eligible, applicants must live in Los Angeles County Supervisorial District 1 (this includes West Covina), their bills must total at least $500, and the date(s) of service must be within the last 2 years. There are also additional eligibility and selection criteria.
